The Best Is Yet To Be

Monday 8th September 2014

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear" - Hebrews 12:28

There is no doubt that we are living in monumental days when we are beginning to see the things that can be shaken being shaken, that the things that cannot be shaken might remain (Hebrews 12:27). What a shaking our society and the world is experiencing in almost every sphere of existence. What an incredible shaking we are witnessing before our very eyes! Yet, in the midst of all the personal turmoil and global chaos, the Kingdom of God remains - and indeed the durable nature of eternal realities and timeless truths ought to become more obvious to a desperate world.

If ever there was, this is a time for us to be bold and strong, for God is with us! Psalm 46:2: "Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea". We are made "more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).

I firmly believe there are unprecedented opportunities upon the horizon to win the lost for Christ and see our communities changed by God's grace. As we daily receive so much news that is bad, let's get excited that we've got Good News, the best news! As we sow this seed, a great harvest will come to the glory of Christ, and the world will marvel in the midst of its chaos as we receive 'a kingdom that cannot be shaken'!

Yes, there are harder times ahead for Christ's little flock, but I also believe in every sense that the best is yet to be!

Thank you for all your prayers for the many great opportunities over the last months in Ireland, North and South. We have had some very special occasions when the Lord has 'drawn strangely near' and our hearts 'burned within us' as we walked with the Lord Himself.

Please do continue to pray for the radio programme 'God Encounter' on UCB Inspirational, weekdays at 9:30am. On average I need to record 20 of these a month (all recorded on one day). Please pray that I will keep up to date and fresh in my preparations. It is difficult to quantify the impact of this programme, but of course we do know that the Word is being multiplied in an incredible way.

Portadown House of Prayer has been going well every Friday 7am-7pm. Please pray that word will spread to those with a similar burden, and that the Body of Christ in the town will catch the vision as we seek God's transforming presence in the community (you can stay informed about this on Facebook).

Please do continue to pray for us as we engage in quite an extensive prayer ministry with needy folk at home most weeks and often after the meetings. We rejoice in the many mighty breakthroughs we are witnessing, but also covet your prayers for strength and covering protection.

Ministry Update

Thursday 8th May 2014

"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" - Luke 12:32

It gives our Father great happiness and delight to pour out the blessings of His Kingdom upon us, even today. Indeed, we continue to pray as our Lord taught us, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". It is such a privilege to enjoy the blessings of heaven upon us "the Lord working with us and confirming the word with signs following" (Mark 16:20). We thank Him for what is past and trust Him for greater things to come!

The Cookstown Bible Week, in February was a tremendous time of ministry when the Lord was evidently moving in people's lives. There were many responses over the week and the Lord graciously freed several who had been bound by various issues. Every night was a late one, as people sought out prayer.

The Stables in Enniskillen, at the end of March proved to be another late night as I had to stay overnight (unplanned). The initial meeting had finished around 9:30pm but we were dealing with needy people until around 3am! That was the night the clocks went forward too, so we had to then lose an hour when we eventually got into bed! Of course we aren't complaining but are rejoicing in how God was moving in people's lives it was a privilege to witness. We hope to get behind what God is obviously doing down there in Enniskillen and we will, God willing, be building on this in the not too distant future.

As I compose this I am anticipating the Faith Mission Easter Convention, Bangor. We are trusting God for a special encounter with Him. I will update you about this in the future.

Please remember especially some upcoming opportunities:

  • Kilkenny Presbyterian Bible Week, 9th 11th May
  • Faith Mission Bible Conference, Bandon, Cork, 30th May 2nd June
  • Portadown Elim, Bible Teaching, 19th 22nd June
  • Bushmills Tent Mission 10th 15th August

Another exciting development which we believe is God's will and which we would covet your prayers for is in connection with UCB Inspirational Radio. I have been invited to do a three minute teaching slot every Monday through Friday on UCB Inspirational. I have made several recordings already for them and broadcasting begins, Mondays-Fridays at 9:30am, from Monday 2nd June. Please cover this in prayer. Deep Healing

Friday 14th February 2014

In the fifth part of our recent study series on 'Encountering God', we addressed some of the barriers to encountering God, which we noted as coming under three main categories: 'Sins, Wounds, and Demons'. Each of these categories warrants deeper study if we are to overcome the specific hindrances to our Christian growth which we struggle with as individuals. To that end, our next study series will be entitled 'Deep Healing', as we look more closely at each of these obstacles in three individual messages on 'Sins', 'Wounds', and 'Demons'. We will find that the remedy for each of these is different, and so we need to first of all discern what our specific problem is before we can know the correct remedy.

Some people believe that every problem that hinders us from going on with God is a sin, others believe that every problem is a wound, while still others blame everything on demons. However, because each person can struggle as a result of one or more - or all - of the above combined, we need discernment from the Lord in order to diagnose our specific problem and dispense the correct remedy.

I trust and pray that, over the next few weeks as we deal in-depth which each of these issues in turn, you will find much help in overcoming the obstacles to your Christian growth. Please join us by reading, watching, or listening to part 1 of 'Deep Healing', as we begin by looking at the issue of 'Sins' which can cause our spiritual growth to become stunted.

Pulling Down Strongholds

Wednesday 1st January 2014

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds" - 2 Corinthians 10:4

"For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great,
And armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His name,
From age to age the same,
And He must win the battle" - Martin Luther

Truly we are "more than conquerors" through our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, we are constantly engaged in warfare, but we rejoice in the victory already won through Jesus' death and resurrection. It is such a privilege to witness the spoils of His battle, in lives being transformed and liberated through the power of the Gospel of grace. Thank you so much for your prayers and do continue as we go forth in His strength knowing that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against" His great Name!

We have known much to encourage us in ministry over the last while in various locations and fellowships. However, probably the greatest encouragements have been received in the personal 'one to one' dealings with people both after the preaching of the Word and privately in our home. It is such a blessing to share in measure with the experience of the early disciples recorded in Mark 16:20: "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen". It is remarkable to see the power of the Word of God accompanied by the presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit doing the work. Praise be to God!

Please do continue to ask the Lord for His divine enablement and supernatural protection for us in all that He calls us to do for Him. We covet the covering of our Heavenly Father in answer to your prayers - thank you.

Please continue in prayer for the various speaking engagements listed to the left.
